U.S.–Cuba Tensions Resurface Over Legacy of 1996 Aircraft Shootdown Case
The former President of Cuba, Raúl Castro, has been indicted for murder by the USA due to the bombing of two planes in 1996. These allegations have come at a time when there are very high tensions as the new administration led by Donald Trump has imposed sanctions on fuel to Cuba, resulting in up to 20 hours of no electricity daily, lack of basic necessities like water and even elevators. America considers Cuba to be a threat and aims for regime change, but Cuba rejects these allegations as political fantasies. However, many residents in Havana have stood firm in spite of their circumstances.
